Could you give an hour for voluntary power?

Ilkleys Got Heart LogoThe ‘Ilkley’s Got Heart’ campaign, which will run through October and November, hopes to encourage the people who live and work in this historic town to take a simple, FREE, on-line course to equip them with the basic, but essential skills, to save lives and build confidence if they find themselves in a situation where someone needs help.

This e-learning course is designed to give everyone and anyone, of any age essential knowledge of how to help in an emergency. The course is suitable for absolute beginners but qualified first aiders are also encouraged to complete the course which is a great refresher, at the same time as helping to achieve the target of 1000 life savers in Ilkley. The aim is to create a town of live-savers!

It takes on average less than an hour, to complete the course, the associated on-line assessment, and to print off the certificate of completion. The course can be done in short 10-minute sections covers a primary survey of the casualty, CPR, bleeding, choking and stroke.

The online training initiative was developed by Ilkley based Virtual College, Qualsafe Ltd and the charity ‘Community Save a Life Scheme’ (CSALS), to help get more people trained nationally in basic first aid. To get involved with the campaign, people should register via the website www.ilkleysgotheart.co.uk and ticking the box to confirm they are part of the Ilkley campaign.
