Position Available Digital Champion
Details of Position The Worth Connecting Project helps people over 55 to learn how to use tablets and computers, get online and, as a result, become less isolated and more connected.
Those of us who use technology on a daily basis know how much it can help – to keep in touch, listen to music, take and share photographs, book a ticket, order shopping or find out what’s going on in your area.
Volunteer Digital Champions help our clients to gain this knowledge. Working on a one to one basis with clients in their homes, our volunteers support our clients to use technology in a way which works for them.
Hours are flexible but we ask that you commit to seeing a client for around an hour a week for a six to eight-week block at a time.

How it works:
At the beginning of each assignment you receive a brief about your client, their background and the things they would like to learn. Over approximately six to eight 1-1 sessions you support them to meet those needs and overcome any hurdles.
You will have regular contact with your Project Development Worker and you will be accompanied by them for your first 1-1 session. You will receive a full induction and ongoing training to give you the skills you need. You don’t need to be a technical whiz, you just need a good grasp of how to use a tablet and a desire to make a difference.

About you:
• Comfortable with day to day use of a tablet, laptop and/or smartphone
• Patient and supportive
• Non-judgemental, sympathetic and a good listener
• Reliable, able to keep to appointments with the client (barring illness)
• Able to maintain client confidentiality
• Able to travel to clients’ homes (expenses paid)
Location: Working 1-1 in clients’ homes or running groups at centres across various locations to suit
