Details of Position ICT provides volunteer drivers for any of the local groups hiring the buses.

Volunteer escorts for the community buses are needed for some journeys to assist less able passengers. This can involve seeing passengers on and off the bus safely, helping with the seatbelts and carrying shopping.
Journey times vary between an hour and a full day and can be to the local community centre, a theatre, museum, historic building or even a run into the Dales.

You choose which trips suit you and how often you would like to help. Appropriate training will be provided locally.
Description of your Organisation ICT is a local charity providing three minibuses for hire to community groups in the LS29 area. A pool of trained Midas (Minibus Drivers' Awareness Scheme) volunteer drivers support the hiring groups. Training is provided free of charge.
The charity also provides car lifts to residents who have difficulty in accessing medical appointments. Lifts are provided by volunteer drivers using their own cars. Whilst lifts are free, a donation is requested to support the charity.

Position Available Volunteer Car Drivers

Details of Position ICT provides lifts for residents in the Addingham, Burley and Ilkley areas, primarily for medical appointments.
Volunteers use their own cars and can claim a mileage allowance. Acting in a voluntary capacity should be permitted by your insurers and not affect your annual premium. A clean driving licence is preferable but not essential.
You advise the times you are available and choose how often you drive.

A Transport Coordinator manages the activities but help is always needed with the everyday office tasks which include taking bookings and lift requests, ringing round for drivers and escorts and handling telephone enquiries.

Position Available Home from hospital volunteer
Location Ilkley and surrounding areas
Details of Position Home from Hospital is a service that offers practical help and support to people who have just been discharged from hospital. Following assessment of need by the Home from Hospital Co-ordinators, volunteers provide short-term practical and emotional support in areas not covered by other provision to reduce the risk of re-admission to hospital and assist in the client’s return to independence.
This is a time limited intervention.

Tasks you may be responsible for :
• Shopping for the client / escorted shopping
• Escorting clients to appointments
• Befriending and general wellbeing checks
• Support with promotion of the service
• Signposting clients onto other service providers and supporting them to encourage independence.

Position Available Telephone support volunteer
Location Office or home based
Details of Position Purpose of Role:
To make regular phone calls to clients who have recently had support from a Carers’ Resource’s Locality worker.
This will:-
  •  Give the carer confidence to move forward independently.
  •  Give additional short-term emotional support to the carer.
  •  Help find answers to any additional questions the carer may have.
  •  Act as a safety net for carers who may need referring back for further support.
